Happy (late) New year’s! I hope you all had a great time of it. I had Jan 1 off work and spent it quietly, knitting (of course), and hanging out with my two knitting assistants:
It doesn’t get much better than that, eh?
I also got around to blocking my last finished pieces of 2012:
Another hat and mitt set. I am in love with this one. I posted about the hat before (it was my Thanksgiving project), but I believe the mitts are making their debut:
I’m sure I’ve said it before, but I really do love to incorporate beads into my knitting. A few pieces of well placed sparkle can really make the design pop, to my eye. This yarn (Lorna’s Laces Honor) is also well suited to beading, the silk content gives it a subtle sheen that seems to enhance the glitz of the beads. Also, on the topic of yarn, I got both the hats and the mitts out of one ball of Honor, with plenty to spare. The yardage in that stuff is extremely generous, to say the least.
And, in these pieces, I finally worked out something I’ve been wanting to try for a while, a beaded picot edging:
I’ll be back this week/next week with a pair of tutorials on making a beaded picot cast-on and bind-off, the techniques I’ve used on these pieces. I hope you’ll come back to check them out.
