continuing in that theme…

I cast on for a hat last night, using the hand-dyed fingering weight wool gifted to me in exchange for some cat-sitting:

I’m really loving the subtle combination of the gray and purple. The gray yarn has strong purplish undertones so this is definitely a mixture of related colors. There’s still a visible contrast, but it’s on the quiet side. The hat is slated to be a fairly simple beanie shape, so it should be a nice all-purpose piece, either for myself or perhaps a recipient. I need to decide if I’m doing any Christmas knitting this year, and if I am, who’s deserving….
