weedy wednesday: fava beans and leafy greens

The fava beans I introduced last week are still growing by leaps and bounds:


These are supposed to do well in cooler weather, which is starting to creep in around here. They make me smile every time I walk through the garden plot, so green and vibrant and healthy.

In terms of harvesting, my primary crop these days is kale:


This batch was picked this morning and went straight into my daily green smoothie (today’s mix up: kale, 2 peaches, soymilk, hemp seeds, and vanilla).

And since this is a knitting blog, an update on that Palette and the Crispin mitts it’s transforming into:


Like the fava beans, a perfect cool weather project.
