plot and swatch

I was working up all sorts of colorwork this weekend, not just Crispin:

This piece, though, is some experimentation with slip stitches.  I’ve gotten to be quite a fan of slip stitches for simple colorwork, particularly in cases where I don’t want to work in the round, or deal with the hassle of managing two strands of yarn on the purl side of the work (if you haven’t tried this, my advice is: don’t).  This latest swatch is destined to be the beginning of a slightly larger project than all the mitts and toys I’ve been working on lately.  Of course, as soon as I start getting excited about fall knitting, we’ve started getting clobbered by a heat wave.  I think I’ll still be working the smaller projects for a few more days.
